A Warm Welcome from Irene Kendig!

Welcome to the official website for Conversations with Jerry and Other People I Thought Were Dead.

The purpose of this website is to explore life from a spiritual perspective so that you can be at peace in the present and live more fully now.

Death is a taboo subject in our society. When I was learning to lead corporate training sessions—customer satisfaction, problem solving and team building—I distinctly remember a conversation with my coach, the co-owner of a major international consulting firm and one of the best public speakers I know. “Don’t ever bring up the topic of death,” he said, “unless you want to lose your audience.”

I took his advice and never mentioned the topic, mostly because it never came up in the course of what I was teaching. I was surprised, however, when I led a training session for a Fortune 500 company shortly after my father transitioned. I was sharing a personal example of outstanding customer service on my return flight home from his funeral and I happened to mention that I'd been reading a book that was helping me to deal with his death. Several hands went up at once, all wanting to know the title and, when I told them, most of the people in the room wrote it down. Not only had I not lost my audience, it was obvious from their response that they were hungry for useful information.

That was fifteen years ago and today it's my mission to bring the subject of death out of the closet and into the light of day. I don't fear death because I know what it is and what it isn't. It isn't the end of our existence. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. When our human experience is complete, we shift our energy from the physical body to the spirited body and beyond. That's what "dying" is: a transformative moment in which we refocus our energy.

If you look up the definition of spirit, you’ll find: 1. the nonphysical part of a person that is the seat of character 2. such a part regarded as a person’s true self and as capable of surviving physical death or separation.

A synonym for True Self is Authentic Self and that's the term I'll be using. The Authentic Self is a state of consciousness characterized by acceptance, love, peace, contentment, joy, and compassion. There is no duality at this level—no right/wrong, good/bad—there is only oneness. The more in touch you are with your Authentic Self, the easier your transition will be from physical to non-physical reality. It pays to do your inner work now!
